General Service Questions
Q1. What services does UK Care provide?
We provide secure transport, emergency supervision, appropriate adult support, and 24/7 crisis response services across the UK. Our staff are fully SIA-licensed, PMVA-trained, and experienced in working with vulnerable individuals.
Q2. Who can use your services?
Our services are available to local authorities, NHS trusts, care homes, residential providers, and private clients requiring safe and professional transport or supervision for vulnerable individuals.
Secure Transport
Q3. What is secure transport?
Secure transport involves the safe and respectful movement of individuals—often children or adults with complex needs—using trained personnel. This may include mechanical restraints when legally justified under a DoLS or other safeguarding framework.
Q4. Is physical restraint ever used during transport?
Only when absolutely necessary. Physical intervention or use of handcuffs (soft, speed cuffs, or rigid) is only deployed where a legal framework permits it—such as under a DoLS—and when risk assessments show it is the least restrictive and safest option.
Q5. Can your staff transport individuals without a Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS)?
Yes. Where a DoLS is not in place, transport is still lawful when conducted under the relevant sections of the Mental Capacity Act or Children Act. We operate with clear boundaries and in line with legal advice.
Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS)
Q6. What is a DoLS and when is it required?
A DoLS authorisation allows a person to be legally deprived of their liberty in their best interests, usually when they lack capacity. It’s required when restrictions (e.g., locked transport, constant supervision) are needed for safety.
Q7. Do you assist with the legal process of arranging a DoLS?
We don’t provide legal advice, but we work closely with social workers, DoLS teams, and legal professionals to support compliant care and transport arrangements.
Emergency and Crisis Response
Q8. How quickly can UK Care respond to an urgent transport request?
We operate a 24/7 on-call system and can often deploy staff within 60–90 minutes depending on location. For high-risk or same-day moves, early communication helps us ensure the right team and vehicle are ready.
Q9. Do you provide same-day placements or accommodation for young people?
We specialise in transport and supervision—not accommodation. However, we work in partnership with residential providers and may be able to assist in sourcing temporary solutions during a crisis.
Appropriate Adult & Supervision Services
Q10. What is an Appropriate Adult and when is one required?
An Appropriate Adult supports vulnerable children or adults in custody during police interviews. We provide trained professionals who understand the legal rights and emotional needs of the individual.
Q11. Do you provide overnight or 24-hour supervision for high-risk individuals?
Yes. Our Emergency Supervision Services are designed for continuous, awake support, including single or double staff teams in residential or temporary accommodation settings.
Safeguarding & Staff Training
Q12. Are your staff trained in safeguarding?
Absolutely. All staff are trained in safeguarding, trauma-informed practice, First Aid, and PMVA (Prevention & Management of Violence & Aggression), with enhanced DBS checks and BS7858 vetting.
Q13. Can we request staff with specific experience (e.g. autism, CSE risk, mental health)?
Yes. We try to match staff with relevant experience or backgrounds where possible. Let us know your requirements when booking.
Bookings, Availability & Pricing
Q14. How do I book your services?
You can contact us via our contact form, email, or call 24/7. We’ll carry out an initial risk assessment and confirm availability, pricing, and legal considerations.
Q15. How much do your services cost?
Prices vary based on distance, risk level, and service type. We offer competitive rates and can provide same-day quotes for urgent moves or bespoke packages for regular clients.
