During day to day life it is very easy to get swept up in your normal routines. Wake up, get ready, go to work, go home, relax, sleep, repeat. This is normal human behaviour and there is nothing wrong with it for one second. Sometimes though it is important to reflect and look at what is going on around you in the world and attempt to understand a little bit of the “bigger picture”
The word “Cancer” seems to constantly be in the media: TV Advertising for donations, news articles in every form of media, specialist campaigns on TV and in the local community: All of this is to raise awareness (and funding) for research and development into cures and providing support for sufferers and their families.
This is completely understandable considering the “Big C” is all around us – the facts are 1 in 2 of us will be diagnosed with some form of Cancer in our lifetime and massive steps have been made over the past 40 years in the development of treatments for cancer and in a lot of the types of cancer the survival rates have increased greatly.
Most adults now have at the very least a basic understanding of cancer and how it can impact themselves and the people around them. The saddest part of it is that it isn’t just adults that can develop cancer, it can and does also develop in children.
Children’s cancer devastates young lives and the lives of those around them. These children have not been in this world long and they are having to fight one of the most devastating diseases on this planet. It also turns a families’ world upside down when all they are trying to do is support their child.
This is why we support Candlelighters. Here is what Candlelighters do, in their own words:
We are humbled and honoured to have been given the title of Company of the Month after donating a total of £8,000 last month as part of our Group Annual Donation Pledge.
Our total raised for Candlelighters is now well over £13,000 but we want to help even more!
If you can spare any money, no matter how big or small, please donate to Candlelighters via our JustGiving Link at the top of this page and help us support this wonderful charity.
